It must be Halloween because this choice for Joey’s Craft Soda Review is SCARY! We can always count on Joey to bring us the unexpected when it comes to his love for craft soda. However, bacon and chocolate soda is something we didn’t see coming. Will it pass the Joey taste test? Will it have enough fizz? See for yourself in this month’s craft soda review.
Joey’s Craft Soda Review
I’m Joey. I like craft soda, a lot. In my opinion, I feel that craft sodas have a lot more to offer than a mass produced soda not only in taste but in the variety and quality of ingredients used in their production. This is a big reason why I generally enjoy craft sodas, and I also think that drinking them and reviewing them is a great way to support the generally smaller companies that produce these beverages.
Lester’s Fixin’s Bacon Soda With Chocolate
I opened this one up and was quickly greeted by the scent of beef jerky.
So… remember my last review we were talking about things that shouldn’t exist? (Jones Peanut Butter & Jelly Soda) I think I’ve found another candidate for that title. Chocolate and bacon flavored soda. So… I love bacon, I love chocolate, and I love soda, and I feel like this is about to ruin all of these things for me. I guess we’re about to find out.
The Bottle
The look of this bottle does nothing to console me, it just looks… bad in a way that I feel would reflect the quality of the soda. I don’t mean to say that the bottle is totally ugly, it just looks weird to me, like it grabs my attention in all the wrong ways. Not a good start.
The Smell
I opened this one up and was quickly greeted by the scent of beef jerky, which shortly dissipated. Upon closer inhalation, I could smell a mix of fake chocolate and smoke, a rather bacony smoke which was actually pretty… accurate in a way. Not awful, my hopes for this drink are rising.
The Fizz
Not fizzy enough, not really much more to be said here, except maybe a moment to ask the craft beverage powers of the world to put more bubbles in their drinks, that is all.
The Taste
First sip, NOPE. This deserves no more tasting. I can’t even really describe it, it’s just so bad. Fake chocolates there, weird saltyish note present, what I can only assume was bacon flavor tastes like nothing but deep fried gristle, and to top it all off it was way too sweet. If people sold liquid disappointment, this is probably what it would taste like.
Overall: Don’t buy this, even as a joke, anyone who receives this as a gift would probably think you hate them, it’s just not worth it. 1/10
