Welcome back to Joey’s Craft Soda Review! If you follow the Craft Beverage Jobs blog then you know that as a rule, we do NOT do reviews. There are plenty of review blogs out there and they do a great job highlighting craft beverages. We stick to careers and industry news.
However, there is always an exception to every rule. Meet our exception, Joey Godinez! Joey is a 15 year old who not only loves to drink craft soda but loves to write about it as well. We were so impressed with Joey’s skills that we invited him to review one craft soda each month and share his review as our guest on the Craft Beverage Jobs Blog. We think you will be impressed!
Joey’s Craft Soda Review
I’m Joey. I like craft soda, a lot. In my opinion I feel that craft sodas have a lot more to offer than a mass produced soda not only in taste, but in variety and quality of ingredients used in their production. This is a big reason why I generally enjoy craft sodas, and I also think that drinking them and reviewing them is a great way to support the generally smaller companies that produce these beverages.
Swamp Pop Satsuma Fizz
I’m sitting out on my porch and its a beautiful day. Warm and sunny, without a cloud in the sky. Izzy is asleep (yes!) And my favorite playlist is up. Time for my first review of 2015!
The Look…
Before any review I must first thoroughly admire the bottle, but there’s not a lot to admire here. Its not an ugly bottle, its just not pretty. Little too simple for me, but it could be worse.
…it smells exactly like Orangina, which is very much a good thing…
The Smell…
Popped the top and was greeted by a very familiar scent, it smells exactly like Orangina, which is very much a good thing. I hope for every reader’s sake they know what Orangina smells like because it’s awesome, but that’s another review.
The Fizz…
Not the fizziest drink I’ve ever had, but not flat either. I generally prefer my citrus drinks to be very fizzy, but maybe that’s just me, this is a little disappointing in the fizz category though.
The Taste…
This makes up for every negative thing I’ve said so far, because it tastes AMAZING! Like, really amazing. Like the smell, it reminds me of a slightly sweeter, less tart version of Orangina, or maybe orange Crush if Crush weren’t so myeh. Not a lot of real orange taste though, which is understandable, still nice. So yeah, really good.
Overall, Swamp Pop Satsuma Fizz falls flat in the looks and fizz (see what I did there?) department, but otherwise a really awesome tasting soda. 8/10
