Stephen Valand and Erica Shae, founders of Brooklyn Brew Shop, turned their resourcefulness into dollars when they created a gallon beer-brewing kit that would work for Erica’s space-impaired New York City apartment. Brewing supplies were a limited resource in the Big Apple, so the beer brewing duo “macgyvered” parts of larger brewing kits to design a kit that would work for them.
Motivated by a love for good craft beer, and a belief that other New Yorkers would also enjoy the experience of brewing their own beer, Stephen and Erica worked to scale down the brewing process to accommodate small spaces. It wasn’t long before their resourcefulness became a full time business adventure and in 2009 you could buy Brooklyn Brew Shop home brewing kits at the Brooklyn Flea Market and online.

Brooklyn Brew Shop’s website not only provides a great assortment of home brewing kits and accessories but also educational resources to help you brew the perfect beer in your own kitchen. With over 20 styles to choose from, including hard cider, there really is something for every beer lover to enjoy.
